With this in mind, VOLK RACING has interpreted these excellent vehicles as SportBoxes, adopting a dedicated rim shape that is lightweight and exhibits high rigidity, achieving a weight reduction of 3 kg compared to a stock 16-inch wheel. It meets the JWL-T strength standards applicable to this class, and needless to say, also clears our in-house JWL+R SPEC-2 standard. To those who ask, "What's so good about high rigidity? That's for race cars or tuned cars," we want to answer. When the vehicle weight is heavy, tires become lower profile due to upsizing, and if you also switch to a stiff suspension, wheel deflection and distortion increase, inevitably affecting sporty driving. The benefits of high rigidity make the steering feel at the front sharper and more linear. At the rear, it eliminates instability in the contact patch, providing tenacious grip—reports from preliminary driving tests show a clear difference. In other words, for vehicles that are heavy, have a high center of gravity, and have a front-biased load balance, lightweight wheels with high rigidity are ideally suited. Furthermore, starting January 2018, we began releasing the stylish Tourer model for this TE37SB. The rim features a diamond-cut finish, and the flange has MC lettering arranged as an accent line. It offers a new expression to the rugged appearance.
