◆ A new standard for intake tuning!

Installing an exposed air cleaner on a Subaru can produce inaccurate airflow measurements (Figure 1). Power and torque may fall below factory levels (Figure 2), or knock may occur, adversely affecting the engine and potentially causing engine damage. Consequently, fitting an exposed air cleaner alone has long been considered unsuitable for Subaru vehicles, making ECU calibration on the vehicle necessary.

The ZERO/SPORTS Direct Flow System pairs the Subaru-specific Super Direct Flow Kit exposed air cleaner with a dedicated ECU Airflow Correction Program, allowing relatively inexpensive intake tuning with good value for money.

◆ Feel the gains in power, torque and response!

The Super Direct Flow Kit increases intake air volume and improves throttle response from the vacuum operating range. The ECU Airflow Correction Program corrects this appropriately, improving boost buildup (Figure 3), power, torque and response (Figure 4).

The figures below compare the standard configuration with the Direct Flow System, demonstrating faster boost buildup at low engine speeds and power and torque increases throughout the range.

The ECU used by the Direct Flow System is prepared by installing the dedicated Airflow Correction Program into the ECU unit already fitted to the customer’s vehicle.

Retaining the factory ECU allows the immobilizer to operate normally and permits continued use of the Select Monitor Subaru diagnostic terminal.
